Big Blue Men’s Tennis Plays at ITA

         The Millikin men's tennis team had five players turn in strong showings at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Tournament hosted by Washington University-St. Louis on September 28-29.
         In singles play, Jacob Palley won his opening match over Guilherme Calixto of Augustana 6-2, 6-2. Palley lost in round two to Vlad Rotnou d. of Dennison 6-4, 6-4.
         Millikin's Colin Sandgren lost to Sriham Suqumaran of Augustana 6-3, 6-2
In the Consolation Round, Sandgren defeated Blake Trusty of Trine 6-1, 6-0. Sandgren scored a third round win over Jacob Dennen 2-6, 7-6, 1-0 before being eliminated with a fourth round lost to Dale Wyatt 3-6, 6-3, 1-0.
         In doubles play, Palley and Sandgren advanced to the Round of 32 with an 8-4 win over Christensen\Kacyn of Lake Forest. The duo advanced to the Round of 16 with an 8-3 win over Plocher\Pieplow. Palley and Sandgren were eliminated with an 8-4 loss to Powell\Kanam.
         Millikin's Holden Owens, Greg Schwoeppe and Logan Bennett each played in brackets in the UTC Singles Division.
         Owens defeated Dan Wagstaff 6-1, 5-7, 1-0. Owens won over Pablo Gallart 6-1, 6-1 before losing to Jessie Korovin 6-2, 6-3.
         Schwoeppe lost to Joe Patton of Wittenberg 3-6, 6-2, 1-0. Schwoeppe also picked up a 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 win over Alexander Winters before losing to Angelo Vidal 6-2, 6-3.
Bennett defeated Andrew Cochran 6-0, 6-4 and downed Lee Mason 6-2, 6-2. Bennett lost in the Championship match of his bracket to Elbin Jacob 7-5, 4-6, 1-0.
