Tennis Defeated by Lake Forest College

Box Score HILTON HEAD, S.C. - Millikin Men's and Women's Tennis kicked off the Spring Tennis Fest in Hilton Head, South Carolina Monday morning as they faced Lake Forest College in a neutral site matchup. Both men's and women's teams would be bested by the Foresters, with the men losing 6-3 and the women losing 9-0. The losses bring Men's Tennis to 1-6 on the year and Women's Tennis to 5-9. 

In the men's competition, the Big Blue would be swept in doubles play with Jacob palley and Logan Bennett being defeated by Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk and Chase Garber in the #1 doubles spot with an 8-6 final. Clayton Maack and Holden Owens would also lose 8-6 to Jacob Tilton and Brant Christensen. James Broach and Cory Erickson would play at #3 doubles against Zach Cho and Pratheek Mandalapu and would fall 8-5. 

Millikin's three wins would come in singles play with Clayton Maack beating Jacob Tilton in the #2 singles matchup 6-2, 6-4. Nick Laramee would see himself in the #5 singles match against Oliver Gallego and would pick up a 6-0, 6-0 win. In the #6 singles spot was Adrian Sanchez-Rodriguez, who would record a 6-4, 6-2 win over Brant Christensen. Posting losses on the day were Jacob Palley in the #1 match against Oleskyi Vyshyvanyuk, Holden Owens who faced Pratheek Mandalapu, and Logan Bennett who would fall to Chase Garber in the #4 singles spot. Palley would record a 6-2, 6-2 loss, Owens would be defeated 6-4, 6-3, and Bennett would fall 6-4, 6-3. 

On the women's side, the Big Blue would be swept in both doubles and singles play to fall to the Foresters 9-0. In doubles, Danielle Beard and Brianna Barconi would see Julie Lord and Leeza Bodnar in the #1 match and would fall 8-2. Shelby Jones and Alena Hinch would also fall 8-2 to Tebatso Duba and Tyranny Miller. In the #3 spot, Katie Cooper and Amber Rezinas would be edged 8-2 by Emma Wang and Katie Wegrecki. 

In singles play, Shelby Jones would play Julie Lord in the #1 singles match and would lose 7-5, 6-1. Brianna Barconi would see Tebatso Duba in #2 singles play and would be stopped 6-3, 6-3. Danielle Beard and Leeza Bodnar would square off in the #3 singles matchup, but Beard would be unable to pull a win off, losing 6-1, 6-4. Katie Cooper would face Emma Wang at #4 and would be defeated 6-0, 6-3. Alena Hinch and Tyranny Miller would battle in the #5 singles match but Miller would prove to be too much for Hinch to handle, winning 6-0, 6-0. In the #6 singles spot, Amber Rezinas would see Kate Wegrecki and would lost 6-0, 6-1. 

The Big Blue will continue their spring break in Hilton Head, S.C. on Tuesday, March 10 as they face LeTourneau University in the Spring Tennis Fest.
