Men's Tennis Competes at ITA Regional Championship Tournament

The Big Blue men's tennis team competed at the ITA Regional Championship Tournament hosted by Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Mich. from Friday, October 1 to Sunday, October 3. Four Millikin athletes were selected to participate in the Central Regional Tournament: the freshmen doubles duo of Theodor Wolf and Cole Phillips, and Clayton Maack and Holden Owens in singles play.

In the first round of doubles play, Wolf and Phillips were defeated by DePauw's Thomas Partridge and Wyatt Metzger by an 8-1 margin. In the consolation bracket, they matched up against Wittenberg's Jake Stockhausen and John DeVito and were defeated 8-5.

On the singles side, Owens' first matchup pitted him against Wabash's Alvaro Alonso-Sanchez, and he was defeated in twin 6-3 sets. He fell to Cole Goodman of Trine in the first round of the consolation bracket, falling 6-3 in the first set before retiring due to injury in the second set.

Maack faced DePauw's Metzger in the first round of singles play, and he was defeated 6-4 in the first set before falling 7-6 in a tiebreaker second set (10-4). He faced another tough opponent in the consolation bracket and eventually fell to Hope's Jacob Burkett 6-1, 6-0.

The Big Blue men's tennis team concluded their spring competitions with the ITA tournament and will be back in action in the spring season.
