Millikin's Armstrong Named CCIW Softball Pitcher of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Park's Alyssa Aragon and Millikin's Aly Armstrong were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Softball Players of the Week on Tuesday.

Aragon, a junior utility player from Niles, Illinois and Niles North High School, helped lead the Vikings to a 4-1 record last week as she batted .560 (14-for-25) with eight runs, five doubles, three home runs, 16 RBI and a 1.120 slugging percentage. She had two three-hit games in a double header sweep of Carroll on May 1. She has tallied at least one extra base hit in each of her last five games played.

Armstrong, a junior pitcher from Effingham, Illinois and Effingham High School, was 3-0 with a 1.83 ERA and 24 strikeouts last week. She helped clinch the CCIW regular season title for the Big Blue, going nine innings with eight strikeouts in a 9-7 win over Wheaton on April 27, seven innings with seven strikeouts in a 7-2 win at Illinois Wesleyan on April 30 and seven innings and nine strikeouts in a 10-3 win over Elmhurst on May 1.
