Millikin's Buehrle named CCIW Baseball Student-Athlete of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Central's Rob Marinec and Millikin's Caleb Buehrle were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Baseball Student-Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
 
Marinec, a senior catcher from Alsip, Illinois and Shepard High School, won his second CCIW Hitter of the Week honor on Tuesday. Last week, he batted .667 (6-for-9) with four runs, three doubles, two home runs, eight RBI and a 1.667 slugging percentage in a sweep of Ripon on Saturday. In Game 1, Marinec went 3-for-5 with two runs, three doubles and two RBI in a 14-11 win over the Red Hawks. In Game 2, he went 3-for-4 with two runs, two home runs and six RBI in an 11-2 victory.
 
Buehrle, a senior pitcher from Wildwood, Missouri and St. John Vianney High School, won his second-straight CCIW Pitcher of the Week honor on Tuesday. He pitched all nine innings of a 3-0 shutout against UW-Oshkosh on Friday as he scattered four hits (all singles), struck out 12 batters and gave up just one walk.
