Millikin Men's Tennis Opens Fall Schedule with Win over Illinois College

Box Score The Big Blue men's tennis team opened their 2022-23 fall campaign at the Fairview Park Tennis Complex with a 9-0 win over Illinois College.

In doubles play, Clayton Maack and RJ Miksell teamed up for an 8-0 win at No. 2, the tandem of Cole Phillips and Theodor Wolf returned from last season picking up their first win of the season with an 8-0 victory at No. 1. Rounding out doubles play with a win at No. 3 was the team of Rodrigo Laux and Cory Erickson by an 8-2 margin.

On the singles side, freshman Rylee Gower picked up his first win at No. 6, winning 6-0, 6-1. Miksell was the victor at No. 5, winning twin 6-0 sets. Wolf picked up his second victory of the day at No. 2 with back-to-back 6-0 wins. At No. 3 singles, Phillips was victorious winning 6-0, 6-0. The returner Maack took the win at No. 1 with 6-0, 6-1 set victories, and Laux finished out the 9-0 sweep with two 6-3 set wins.

The Big Blue will return to the court at the CCIW Fall Invitational on September 10-11 in Kenosha, Wis.
