Remembering former Millikin Athletic Director Joe Hakes

The Millikin Athletics department is saddened to learn of the passing of former Millikin Director of Athletics Joe Hakes.
 
Hakes passed away on January 23, 2023 after a long illness. His final days were spent at home in Bristow, Virginia surrounded by family.
 
Hakes was Millikin's Director of Athletics from 2008-2011. His career in college athletics spanned more than 40 years as a coach and athletic director. Hakes most recent position was as Athletic Director at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. Hakes was well respected around the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin with coaching stops at both Wheaton College and North Park University.
 
Millikin extends its condolences to Joe's wife of 47 years, Sue, and his daughters Samantha and Heidi was well as the entire Hakes family.
