Men's Tennis Closes out Regular Season with Sweep of Elmhurst

Box Score The Big Blue men's tennis team traveled to Elmhurst, Ill. on Monday, April 24 for their final College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin matchup of the regular season against the Bluejays of Elmhurst College. Millikin was victorious by way of sweep, winning 9-0.

In doubles play, the Big Blue's Hasting Bjorkman and Martin Cardestig defeated Ben Cavka and Russell Reyes 8-1 at No. 1. Clayton Maack and Theo Wolf combined for a win at No. 2 over Charalampos Vasilopoulos and Muhammed Salman in an 8-1 contest. The team of Cole Phillips and Rodrigo Laux recorded a win by default at No. 3.

On the singles side, Maack picked up a victory at No. 1, winning 7-5, 6-4 over Cavka. Cardestig added a win at No. 2, downing Reyes 6-1, 6-0. At No. 3, Wolf picked up a win over Salman 6-1, 6-0. Laux stepped into the No. 4 slot, winning over Vasilopoulos 6-0, 6-2. At No. 5, Phillips was the victor over Yannis Varsamis, winning 6-2, 6-0. Felix Persson was credited with a win by default at No. 6.

With the win, the Big Blue men's tennis team finished in third place in conference with a 5-2 record, 15-5 overall. Millikin is set to match up against sixth-seeded Illinois Wesleyan in the opening round of the CCIW Tournament beginning Thursday, April 27.
