Men's Tennis Downed by North Central

Box Score The Big Blue men's tennis team competed in their second College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin matchup of the weekend in Naperville, Ill. on Friday, April 7 against the Cardinals of North Central College. After defeating Wheaton College for the first time in program history, MU matched up against another top tier team in NCC, falling 3-6 to move to 1-1 in conference play.

Millikin held a 2-1 lead after doubles play concluded, with the team of Hasting Bjorkman and Martin Cardestig picking up an 8-5 win over Guillermo Gonzalez Fernandez and Ramon Vilarroig Martinez at No. 1. North Central evened the score when Rodrigo Laux and Cole Phillips fell at No. 3 to Daniel Estanislao and Matt Sengphommachanh by a 4-8 margin. The partnership of Clayton Maack and Theodor Wolf was victorious by way of tiebreaker, defeating Colten Way and Javier Suarez Balsera 8-7 (9-7).

Phillips picked up the lone Millikin victory in singles play, downing Way at No. 5 in 6-4, 6-2 sets.

Millikin will be back in action on Tuesday, April 11 in Bloomington, Ill. when they match up with the Titans of Illinois Wesleyan University in their third CCIW contest of the season.
