Women’s Basketball Ranked Second in Division III in Team GPA

DECATUR, Illinois—The Millikin women's basketball team ranked number in the 2022-23 Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll for NCAA Division III released by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) on August 1, 2023.

Millikin had a combined team grade point average of 3.805 finishing second behind Wartburg College at 3.872.

The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2022-23 season is the 28th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.

"The WBCA is pleased to recognize those women's basketball programs that have committed themselves to excellence on the court and in the classroom," said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew.  "The teams we honor this year strive to achieve all-around success and we commend their efforts. Congratulations!"

The academic excellence by the Big Blue was coupled by success on the court that saw Millikin post a 24-5 record in 2022-23 winning the College Conference of Illinois (CCIW) regulars season and conference tournament titles and advance to the second round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

"Our student-athletes have worked extremely hard to represent their families, this program, and Millikin University at elite levels on and off the court," states Millikin Head Coach Olivia Lett. "To get second in the country for GPA is a highlight for not only our program, but specifically our graduating senior class that ushered the way with a 3.83 four year GPA.  The culture that these women have created continues to leave its mark on our team, Millikin University, and Central Illinois."
