Millikin’s Shumaker Named Male Track Student-Athlete of the Week

NAPERVILLE – Carthage's Joseph White – named United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division III National Athlete of the Week on Tuesday – joined Millikin's Jake Shumaker (track) as College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Student-Athletes of the Week in men's indoor track & field on Wednesday morning.

Track: Jake Shumaker (Decatur, Mt. Zion H.S.), Millikin
Shumaker turned in the league's fastest 800 time last Friday at Rose-Hulman at 1:53.58 for the Big Blue. The mark was also fourth-fastest in Division III during the indoor season. The senior from Decatur, Ill. also anchored MU's winning 4x400 meter relay squad at 3:21.71, also the top time in the league.

White remained the only student-athlete to earn weekly indoor field honors from the CCIW this season, collecting his fourth consecutive selection this season and the 13th of his career. He won the shot put and the weight throw North Central's Heenan Invitational in Naperville, as his heave of 18.94 meters in the shot put broke his own CCIW record and was the fourth-best throw in Division III history.
