Millikin Baseball Ranked Third in NCAA DIII Regional Rankings

DECATUR, Illinois—The Millikin baseball team is ranked third in Region VIII in the second NCAA Division III baseball regional rankings for 2024 released on May 1.

After being listed in the initial rankings last week, the Big Blue (24-12) are ranked third behind Transylvania (30-6) and Spalding (26-10) this week. The other teams ranked in the Region III rankings following Millikin include Benedictine (25-9), Hanover (24-11), Aurora (27-9) and North Park (26-10).

The NCAA's regional rankings are a key component of the in the at-large selection process for the NCAA Division III baseball tournament. The rankings are done by a committee of coaches in each region.

Millikin has won eight straight games and 14-3 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) in a tie for first place with North Park University. The Big Blue will travel to North Central College tonight for a CCIW contest. Millikin closes out the regular season with a non-conference game against Webster on May 2 at 6 p.m. and a CCIW doubleheader against Wheaton College on May 4 starting at 1 p.m. at the Workman Family Baseball Field.

Millikin is receiving votes in this week's D3baseball Top 25 national rankings.
