Spring Athletes Earn CCIW Academic All-Conference Honors

          DECATUR, Ill.—Millikin University, in conjunction with the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), announces its Jack Swartz Award Recipients and the CCIW Dave Wrath Academic All-Conference team for Spring season of 2025.

          The 2025 spring Jack Swartz Award recipients for Millikin University are Liam McGill and Kelsey Bruno. McGill, a four-year starter for the baseball team hailing from Bloomington, Ill., was honored as a first team all-conference selection, his second selection after being chosen as a second team selection in 2023. McGill led the conference in runs scored with 51. He batted .327 with 16 walks and seven hit by pitches, stealing 21 bases and recording 112 assists at shortstop in the regular season to rank second in the CCIW. In the 2025 season he extended the record he'd held since 2023 when he tallied his 43^rd stolen base, extending the record to 96 total career stolen bases. He tied the career runs scored record for the Big Blue with 159, a record he shares with Matt Eichorn who played from 2000-2003. McGill is also a three-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree.

          Kelsey Bruno is the women's recipient. Bruno, a senior out of Springfield, Ill. and Tri-Valley High School, earned first team all-conference honors this season. She totaled 111 total strikeouts in the regular season, tabulating a 2.53 ERA and holding opponents to a .190 batting average. She sat down 56 CCIW batters, and in conference play held opponents to a .188 average for a 6-1 record, five complete games, and three shutouts. After the Big Blue's three CCIW Tournament matchups, she led the conference in strikeouts with 126 total on the season and striking out 34 batters looking. Bruno earned CSC Academic All-District honors earlier this month and will return to Millikin to earn her Masters while serving as a graduate assistant in athletic communications.

          Each season the CCIW selects an Academic All-Conference Team. To be recognized, the student-athlete must be enrolled as a full-time student; must have participated on a team during 2025 Spring season; and must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average. Athletes must have completed two semesters at their current institution before being eligible for Academic All-Conference Recognition.
