Millikin’s Hensley and Shumaker Earn All-Region Honors

DECATUR, Illinois-Millikin University track and field athletes freshman Kyle Hensley (Mt. Zion, H.S.) and senior Jake Shumaker (Decatur, Mt. Zion H.S.) received All Region honors for the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following the conclusion of the regular season and announced on last week.

Top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards.

Hensley and Shumaker both qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships that will be held May 23-25 in Mrytle Beach, South Carolina.

Hensley, the NCAA DIII Indoor Pole Vault Champion, qualified in Pole Vault with the sixth best vault in Division III at 5.05 meters. He effort ranked second in the Midwest Region.

Shumaker qualified in the 800 Meter in 1:50.13, which is 15th fastest in the country. His time was fourth best in the Midwest Region.

Hensley competes on Thursday, May 23 at 3 p.m. CT. Shumaker will be competing in the Men's 800 Meter Prelims on Friday, May 24 at 5:15 p.m. CT. The 800 Meter Finals are Saturday, May 25 at 5 p.m. CT
