Men's Golf Hosts Annual Butts Classic

Millikin hosted the 2nd annual Butts Classic at South Side Country Club, honoring James Butts, Class of 1951, who was part of Millikin's first two conference championships and is being inducted into the Millikin Hall of Fame this weekend. Battling through challenging windy and rainy conditions, the Big Blue men's golf team secured a 2nd place finish with rounds of 303 and 302.

Graduate student Virgile Gruny led the way with a resilient performance, carding rounds of 76-71 to finish 7-over-par. Freshman Trevor Biggerstaff, competing on Millikin's B team, impressed with rounds of 77-71, finishing 9-over and earning a 5th-place finish, along with all-tournament team honors. Luke Bradley also earned a top-10 finish with a 10-over-par total.

Millikin men's golf will conclude their fall season at the Wabash Fall Invitational, held at Broadmoor Country Club in Indianapolis, Ind. on October 7-8.
