Alex Araiza named to CCIW Football All-Conference Honors

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin released the names of the 2025 football all-conference selections on Tuesday, November 18. Big Blue senior linebacker Alex Araiza was named to second team honors for the second straight season. 

Araiza, a San Antonio, Texas native, was the Big Blue's second leading tackler with 43 solo tackles, totaling 59.0 tackles on the season. He added 13.5 tackles for loss for a los sof 33 total yards and a sack. In addition, he posted three quarterback hurries and a fumble recovery to earn the honors. 

The Big Blue rounded out the year with a 29-22 win over Elmhurst to finish 3-7 in head coach Billy Riebock's first year at the helm. 

Along with the special awards and all-conference honorees, the CCIW announced the recipients of the RESPECT Award. Aiden Etchason, a senior offensive lineman from Decatur, Ill. was named the Big Blue's awardee. 

The CCIW RESPECT award is presented at the conclusion of every sports season with each varsity program recognizing one student-athlete. RESPECT Award recipients have distinguished themselves as an integral member of the team, their institution and community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration and Trust. The RESPECT Award recognizes the intangible traits a student-athlete possesses that exemplify great character and encourages inclusiveness and a positive culture.
