Kenosha, WI – Eight players from the Millikin Men's Tennis team made the trip to Carthage College for the first day of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Individual Invitational on Friday, September 11.
Graduate Student
Colin Klein won his first match of the day at #1 singles, defeating Carl Sandelin of Carthage, 8-3 in the first round. In Flight Two of singles play,
Blake Robertson would win the consolation semifinals, where he would defeat Daniel Canivez, 8-4.
Freshman
Elliott Taylor won his first match of flight three against Caroll University's Carl Oback, 8-7 (8-6). While flight 4 saw
Maxime Moreau win his first match, 8-7 (7-1).
Nicolas Siqueira would also claim victory in round one with a score of 8-2.
Matthew Kordesh would win both of his matches on the day defeating Lincoln Gates, 8-0 in the first round. Kordesh would follow that up with an 8-0 win in the semifinals. Kordesh will play for the championship of Flight 5 tomorrow morning.
Flight 6 would see
Eduardo Vargas winning 8-1 over Spencer Sauer of Illinois Wesleyan in round one. While in Flight 7,
Paul Heuer fell 8-1 in his first match.
In doubles, the Big Blue would pick up wins in two of the four flights.
Colin Klein and
Nicolas Siqueira would defeat the duo of Jack Griffin and Henry Galloway from Augstana, 8-2. The Big Blue pair advance to the semifinals of doubles flight three match tomorrow morning. While,
Eduardo Vargas and
Paul Heuer would find themselves victorious over Enzo Eimeke and Payton Nelson of Carthage in Flight 4.
The Big Blue continue the CCIW Individual Tournament tomorrow, September 12 with day two scheduled to begin at 9:00 am. Full results from this weekend tournament will be posted at the conclusion of the day.
