Millikin Drops First Game in NCAA Tournament

The Millikin University baseball team dropped its opening round game in the 2021 NCAA Division III Baseball Decatur, Illinois Regional 4-0 to Denison University on May 27 at the Workman Family Softball Field in Decatur, Illinois 
 
In the battle of the colors, the Big Red's Charlie Fleming was in control limiting the Big Blue to just three hits throwing a complete game shutout with eight strikeouts. Millikin threatened in the sixth and loaded the bases with no outs. Fleming struck out the next two Millikin batters and got a ground out to end the inning keeping the Big Blue off the board. 
 
Danny Alvarez went 2-3 with a double for Denison with two RBI. Daniel Spencer was 2-4 with an RBI. 
 
Denison is now 24-11 on the season and will face Webster University on Friday at 4 p.m.  
 
Millikin drops to 30-15 and faces the number one team in the nation Washington University-St. Louis on Friday at 1 p.m. 
 
Webster advanced with a 4-1 win over Transylvania while WashU shutout Illinois College 2-0. 
 
Transylvania takes on Illinois College tomorrow at 10 a.m.
