Millikin Ranks 60th in Division III LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup Standings

DECATUR, Illinois—Millikin University Athletics finished in 60th place in the LEARFIELD Directors' Cup Standings for NCAA Division III for the 2021-22 season.

The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships. Millikin tied for 60th with 287.50 points. The Big Blue had the second highest point total in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) behind North Central College.

Four Millikin programs competed in NCAA Championships. The softball team advanced to the final eight in the country and the Big Blue women's basketball team made it to the NCAA round of 16. Millikin had three wrestlers advance to the NCAA Championships with senior Bradan Birt winning a national title. Tommy Russell was NCAA All-American in wrestling. Senior Ben Kuxmann was an NCAA Division III All-American at both the 2022 NCAA Division III Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Kuxmann finished second in the 800 Meters in the outdoor meet and was third at the indoor championships.

In LEARFIELD Directors' Cup standings, 18 sports are counted in the final DIII standings, four of which must be men's and women's soccer and men's and women's basketball. The next highest (14 max.) sports scored for each institution, regardless of gender, are used in the standings.
