Millikin Track Receives Academic Honors

DECATUR, Illinois—The Millikin University men's and women's track team and five Millikin track student-athletes were recognized for their academic performance for 2022-23 by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on July 13.
 
The Millikin teams earned All-Academic team honors for having a combined cumulative team grade point average of 3.1. The Millikin men's combined grade point average was 3.11 with the women's team earning a combined team average of 3.43.
 
Five Millikin student athletes were named USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes for 2023 NCAA Division III. Athletes needed a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or above and needed to have competed in the NCAA Division III Indoor or Outdoor Championships or be ranked in the top 50 (top 35) on the TFRRS national performance list.  Millikin's honorees included men's track athletes senior Kristian Boado (Algonquin, Dundee Crown H.S.), a Nursing major; freshman Dayton Lasack (Deerfield, Wis., Deerfield H.S.), an Engineer Science major and junior Jake Shumaker (Decatur, Mt. Zion H.S.), a Computer Science major. Millikin women's track student-athletes receiving the honor were senior Katie Abell (Jacksonville, Routt H.S.), a Biology major and senior Adriyanna Patterson (Georgetown, Georgetown Ridge Farm H.S.) a Criminal Justice major.
