Three Athletes Named to CSC Academic All-District® Track & Field Team

DECATUR, Illinois—Millikin University track and field athletes sophomore Dayton Lasack (Deerfield, Wis., Deerfield H.S.), sophomore Hailey Newill (Fremont, Neb., Freemont H.S. and senior Jake Shumaker (Decatur, Mt. Zion H..S.) were named to the 2023-24 Academic All-District® Track & Field Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the track and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. To be eligible for Academic All-District® honors, student-athletes must have a minimum of 3.50 grade point average and had a top 50 mark nationally in their event.

Lasack, a hurdler, is an Engineering Science major. Lasack had the 46th fastest time in NCAA Division III in the Outdoor 400 Hurdles in 54.0 seconds. Newill, an Arts Technology major, set her top 50 mark in the Pole Vault during the Indoor season clearing 3.55 meters (11-7.75). Shumaker, a Computer Science major, was a qualifier for the NCAA Division III Championships in both the Indoor and Outdoor seasons. In May, he earned All-American honors in the 800 Meters with an eight place finish.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
