Strong Day Two Leads to Second Place Finish at Midwest Region Classic for Men's Golf

The Big Blue men's golf team put on a remarkable performance at the Midwest Region Classic, featuring 44 teams. After shooting 8 over par 296 in the first round and finding themselves tied for 10th place, they staged an incredible comeback on day two, firing a 9 under par 279 to finish the tournament tied for 2nd place.

The 279 team score ranks as the 3rd lowest in program history, and their 36-hole total of 575 is tied for 3rd all-time in the team's record books.

Sophomore Dominick Emig led the charge for the Big Blue, posting a pair of 71s to finish at 2 under par, good for a tie for 8th place. Junior Jack Bollinger followed with rounds of 75-70 (+1), finishing in a tie for 17th. Virgile Gruny contributed a solid 75-71 (+2) performance, tying for 25th, while junior Luke Bradley shot rounds of 75-72.

The star of the final round was junior Mateo Oneglia, who fired a sizzling 5 under par 67, helping the Big Blue vault up nine spots on the leaderboard and secure their impressive finish.

This year's Midwest Region Classic also showcased the depth of talent within the CCIW conference, with five CCIW schools finishing in the top 10. The Big Blue's strong performance highlights the high level of competition the team faces within the conference and across the region.

Millikin will host the Butts Classic during Homecoming weekend, with the tournament spanning September 27-28.
