Johnson Named CCIW Newcomer of the Year

DECATUR, Illinois—Millikin University women's basketball player Nikkel Johnson Kankakee, H.S.) was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Newcomer of the Year and named to the All-Conference Second Team as part of the conference 2025 Women's Basketball All-Conference Team announcement.
        
Johnson was Millikin's leading scorer and rebounder averaging 11.9 points and six rebounds per game. Johnson was a member of the Big Blue volleyball team last fall.
 
Senior Kyleigh Block (Philo, Villa Grove H.S.) was selected as Millikin's winner of the CCIW RESPECT Award. The award is award is presented at the conclusion of every sports season with each varsity program recognizing one student-athlete. RESPECT Award recipients have distinguished themselves as an integral member of the team, their institution and community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration and Trust. The RESPECT Award recognizes the intangible traits a student-athlete possesses that exemplify great character and encourages inclusiveness and a positive culture.
