Men's Golf Wins Heartland Fall Invite

The Millikin men's golf team started their fall campaign competing in Heartland's Fall Invitational in Bloomington, Ill. The one day, 36-hole tournament was hosted at the Den at Fox Creek.

The Big Blue entered two teams in the field. Millikin's first team won the event by eight shots over tournament host Heartland Community College. The first team was led by sophomore Trevor Biggerstaff, who finished third overall shooting rounds of 74-73 (+3). He was followed closely by junior Dominick Emig who struggled in round one shooting, a 6-over, 78 but came back in round two firing a 2-under, 70. Rounding out the All-Tournament accolades was Luke Bradley who shot rounds of 72-77 finishing in seventh place overall. The Big Blue shot rounds of 295-297 on the demanding golf course.

Millikin's second team was led by freshmen duo Stanton Bonk and Ethan Noellsch. Bonk shot rounds of 74-76 in his first collegiate tournament. Noellsch came back from a tough first round and shot an even-par 72 in his final round to help him and the second team jump up leaderboard finishing in fourth place. Millikin's first team tournament win comes at beating last year's nationally ranked NJCAA II teams, #6 Parkland CC and #8 Heartland CC.

The Big Blue travel to the Highland Classic hosted by Augustana August 31-September 1, an event the men's team has won the past two years.
