Casillas Headed to NCAA DIII Wrestling Championships

Millikin first-year wrestler Mateo Casillas is headed to the NCAA Division III Championships after finishing in third place at 197 pounds at the 2026 NCAA Division III Regional for Region 5 being held at John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio on Feb. 27-28.

After losing in the quarterfinals to Tyler Haydon of Wisconsin-Whitewater in major decision 11-2, Casillas posted four straight victories including the 1-0 win in a rematch with Haydon in the third place match. Casillas is now 28-4 on the season and will compete on March 13-14 at the NCAA Division III Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Millikin senior Joey Jens finished in fourth place at 165 pounds. He fell in the third place match to Peyton Brooks of Albion 8-7 with the winning takedown coming with two seconds remaining in the match. Jens was 3-2 in the tournament.

Millikin senior Sabri Sino finished in fifth place at 141 pounds ending his career with an 11-6 decision. Sino ends the season 30-10.

Senior Leno Campbell finished in fifth at 285 after winning 3-0. Campbell ends his season at 21-9.

Millikin finished the event tied for sixth in the team standings with 106 points. Wisconsin-Whitewater was the top scoring team in Region 5.
