Millikin’s Casillas Competes at NCAA Wrestling Championships

Millikin University first year wrestler Mateo Casillas went 2-2 on day one of the 2026 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships being held March 13-14 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

In his Friday morning preliminary round match, Casilla defeated Gabe Monroe of the Coast Guard Academy 5-1.

The victory advanced Casillas to a first-round match-up with top seeded DJ Henry of The College of New Jersey. Henry won the match 16-2 in a major decision.

In the Consolation Round match, Casillas won his first match by technical fall 19-4 (5:51) over Zach Borzio of Williams College. Casillas then fell to Joseph Petrella of Baldwin Wallace in a major decision 10-2 eliminating him from the competition.

Casillas finished the season with a 30-6 record.
