Kramer Soderberg Hired as Maryville's Head Men's Basketball Coach, Will Depart Big Blue Program after Twelve Years

Millikin head men's basketball coach Kramer Soderberg has accepted the head coaching job at Maryville University, an NCAA Division II institution in St. Louis, and will depart the Big Blue program.

Soderberg has been a part of the Millikin men's basketball program since 2015, serving as the program's top assistant coach before being elevated to the head coach in 2021. In his first season at the helm, he led the Big Blue to a 14-12 record and the program's first appearance in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin men's basketball tournament in school history. In his five-year tenure as head coach at Millikin, Soderberg guided the Big Blue to an overall record of 59-67 while helping establish a strong culture centered on player development, accountability, and competitive excellence.

"We are incredibly grateful for the leadership Kramer has provided to our men's basketball program and for the impact he has made on our student-athletes, his colleagues, and the entire University," said Millikin Vice President for Athletics & Community Engagement, Lori Kerans. "He has poured his heart into this program and the lives of the young men he has coached. Kramer and his staff created a culture of commitment, integrity, and growth that will continue to benefit our program moving forward. While we are sad to see him go, we are excited for him and his family as he takes the next step in his coaching career."

A St. Louis native, Soderberg is returning to his roots. He had the opportunity to both coach and play at Lindenwood University in St. Louis under his father, longtime college coach Brad Soderberg. In Soderberg's junior season at Lindenwood, they defeated Maryville 76-53 with Soderberg scoring 19 points and totaling seven assists. He attended St. Charles West High School, where he was named the 2007-08 Gatorade Player of the year in the state of Missouri.

Assistant coach Mack Snyder has been named the interim head coach for the Millikin men's basketball program. Snyder, who joined the Millikin men's basketball coaching staff in 2021, has been an integral member of the program, playing a key role in recruiting and player development over the past five seasons.

A Note from Coach Soderberg:
"It has been an absolute honor to be the leader of the Millikin Men's Basketball program over the last 5 years. Everything that is good about college athletics is represented at Millikin and that is the case for no other reason than the people involve. Millikin is made up—from top to bottom—genuinely wonderful human beings. I would like to personally thank Dr. Craig White who hired me 5 years ago as well as current Director of Athletics, Lori Kerans, who has been an incredible support and a great friend over my entire 12-year tenure at Millikin. To all of my fellow coaches and Millikin staff who I have come to know and love, I'm so thankful for your friendships.

And finally, to all of my current and former players and staff: I am thankful beyond measure to have had the honor of facing this great challenge together. I hope I have impacted you as much as you all have impacted me. The memories and relationships gained during our time together will most certainly last a lifetime!

Over the last 5 years I've tried to build this program the right way and although there is still more work to be done, I believe we have laid a foundation that will last! It's hard to say goodbye to this school, this community, and most especially the people…but, Millikin University will forever be at the root of my coaching journey and I will be forever grateful for that!
GO BIG BLUE!

As always: Pillars ALL THE TIME! Fill Your Cup!

God Bless, Coach Sodie"
