Men's Basketball Adds Two-Time Regional Champion to Coaching Staff

Mike Noonan brings over 20 seasons of coaching experience to the Millikin staff

Decatur, IL - Millikin University Big Blue Men's Basketball has announced an addition to their coaching staff, with Mike Noonan joining the Big Blue as an assistant coach ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Noonan is the latest addition to first-year head coach Tom Noonan's staff, and brings over two decades of coaching experience to the Millikin bench.

The Decatur, Illinois native has remained in central Illinois, coaching boys basketball at his alma mater, St. Teresa High School, for the last 21 seasons. Noonan took over as head coach of the program in 2021, and went on to record 45 wins in his first two seasons, the most by a head coach over their first two campaigns in school history. He has collected 70 wins, two IHSA regional championships and one undefeated CIC conference championship, and has been named the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year for District 15 on two occasions.

Noonan earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2001, and his Master of Science in Management Information Systems in 2002, both from the University of Illinois-Springfield.
