Five Millikin Basketball Players named CSC Academic All-District®

The College Sports Communicators released the names of the Academic All-District® honorees for basketball. Between the men's and women's squads, the Big Blue had five recipients.

To be named to the honors, players must have at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average and have competed in 90% of the team's competitions.

On the men's side, first team all-conference selection Lane Thomann was named to the honors. Thomann, the junior physical education major hailing from Mackinaw, Ill., also earned CSC Academic All-District honors last year. He led the Big Blue in scoring this season, recording an average of 18.9 points per game and 8.0 rebounds per game.

Women's basketball boasted four recipients in Hannah Ermeling, Rachel Holthaus, Tatum Young, and Nikkel Johnson.

Ermeling, a senior exercise science major from St. Peters, Mo. scored a career-high 18 points against Knox early in the season and started 23 games for the Big Blue.

Fellow senior Holthaus was also a first time recipient, majoring in physical education at Millikin. Hailing from Pana, Ill., Holthaus appeared in 25 games this season.

The junior Young earned a place on the list. The Forsyth, Ill. native majoring in biology appeared in 25 games for the Big Blue, starting 24. She averaged 5.1 points per game and totaled 52 assists on the season.

The final women's basketball honoree is Johnson. The sophomore from Kankakee earned second team all-conference honors earlier this season, averaging 16.5 points and 7.7 rebounds per game for Millikin. Johnson also plays volleyball for the Big Blue and is majoring in exercise science.
