Box Score Millikin Baseball faced Illinois Wesleyan University tonight at 6 p.m. Millikin fell 7–2.
Illinois Wesleyan Titans struck first with a run in the opening inning. They added another in the fourth to take a 2–0 lead, then broke the game open with three runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth.
Joey Ross started on the mound for the Big Blue, pitching five innings while allowing two runs, four hits, and recording one strikeout. Nolan Reiman entered in the sixth inning and pitched two innings, allowing three runs, two hits, while recording three strikeouts. Jayden McNaught took over in the eighth, allowing two runs and two hits. Later in the inning, Kameron Ross came in for relief, allowing one hit and recording one strikeout. In the ninth, Brody Stonecipher wrapped things up with a three-up, three-down inning, recording one strikeout.
The Big Blue's bats started going in the ninth. Mick Neibrugge started the inning off with a grounder to the pitcher, reaching on an error. He was then moved over to third as Aiden Simmons came in as a pinch hitter in the bottom of the ninth and ripped a line-drive double into the left-center gap. Beau Adams then came in to pinch hit and hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Neibrugge. Pete Britton's bat continued to stay hot and singled to center, which then scored Simmons.
Pete Britton, Sam Bushur, and Kolby Koslofski all collected two hits each.
Pete Britton was the offensive leader of the game as he went 3-4 with three singles.
The Big Blue will look to bounce back as they face the Illinois Wesleyan Titans again in a doubleheader on Saturday.
