The Big Blue Women's Golf Team started the spring season at the Washington University in St. Louis Spring Invitation held at Bogey Creek Golf Club in Farmington, Mo. The event boasts one of the strongest fields in Division III women's golf.
On day one, the women's team posted a team score of 333 and landing in a tie for 10th in the 15-team field. In round 1 they were led by junior Ava Hackman's 79 and sophomore Ruby Haegen's 82. Day two featured high winds all day with sustained 20 mph and gusts over 30mph. The Big Blue improved by two shots in round 2 (331) and maintain their 10th place position, led again by Hackman matching her round one score with another 79 in round two. Hackman was Millikin's top finisher with her pair of 79s to finish in 23rd place in 82-player field. Sophomore Zoey Beard shot a stellar 80 in her 2nd round to move up the leaderboard a finish in a tie for 36th.
The Millikin women's next event will be the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling hosted by Illinois Wesleyan on April 11-12.
