Millikin Baseball continues to gain national recognition, earning the No. 26 spot in the latest NCAA Division III Coaches Poll. With an 18-6 record, the Big Blue have put together a strong and consistent start to the season.
Offensively, Millikin has been led by Ty Cribbett, who is hitting .372 with a .615 slugging percentage and an impressive .505 on-base percentage. Carder Reich bat has been hot providing key production in run-scoring situations, leading the team with 22 RBI's. Pete Britton has been a well-rounded contributor, pacing the team in hits (32), doubles (10), and runs scored (28). The depth of the lineup has been a major strength, with consistent contributions throughout the order.
On the mound, the pitching staff has delivered strong performances across the board. Gavin Houchins has been a standout, posting a 1.63 ERA over nine appearances with 34 strikeouts in 27 innings. Freshman Brayden Saling has made an immediate impact, recording a 2.39 ERA in six starts. Caleb Akins has also been effective, striking out 44 batters in 43 innings while limiting opponents to a .180 batting average across seven starts.
Millikin has opened conference play and will look to continue its momentum this weekend as they host Carthage College.
