Rock Island, IL - Millikin University Men's Golf was in action on Saturday, playing the opening round of the Highland Classic, hosted by Augustana College. After one round, the Big Blue are 8
th of 23 teams, with a team score of 296 (+8).
It was a level playing field for the Big Blue, with
Dominick Emig,
Marcus Aronsson,
Trevor Biggerstaff, and
Will Ross all coming in at 74 (+2) to tie for 25
th place on the individual leaderboard.
Jake Krstulovich was close behind at 76 (+4) to tie for 49
th.
Millikin also fielded a B-team in the tournament, which placed 9
th at 297 (+9) after one round.
Alex McMillin was the leader, shooting a 72 (E) on day one.
Teddy Walbaum's 73 (+1) saw him 16
th in the field, ahead of
Ethan Noellsch who was tied for 39
th after shooting a 75 (+3).
Jacob Armstrong was tied for 55
th with a 77 (+5) and
Alex Grenier fired an 82 (+10) to wind up tied for 98
th.
"We got off to a good start, but didn't have our strongest couple of holes in the middle of the round. "said senior
Will Ross. "We're still within striking distance of the leaders, so it's all to play for tomorrow."
The Big Blue are back on the course tomorrow for their second and final round of the event.
