Millikin Wrestling Splits Pair of Matches

The Millikin wrestling team went 1-1 on the final day of the 2017 Budd Whitehill National Duals hosted by Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania on January 14.
         Day one of the tournament featured four groups of four in round robin competition. Millikin went 2-1 on day one advancing to Saturday's group of teams battling for fifth through eighth place in the 16 team field. Millikin's lost its first match on Saturday to SUNY-Cortland 32-16. The Big Blue then defeated The College of New Jersey 30-16 to finish seventh overall in the tournament. Millikin ended the tournament with a 3-2 record. The Big Blue are now 9-7 in dual matches on the season.
         After missing most of the season due to an injury, Millikin's Chris Williams had a strong return to competition winning all five of his matches in the tournament. Williams scored 13-3 major decision over Austin O'Reilly of SUNY-Cortland. Millikin's other wins in the match came on forfeit at 184 pounds and a win by injury default by Frank Tomaskovic at 285 pounds.
         Against The College of New Jersey, Millikin picked up wins by forfeit at 125 and 141 pounds. Williams won at 133 defeating Ryan Erwin 11-2 in a major decision. Big Blue freshman Noah Justi won 4-2 at 157 pounds. Millikin sophomore Keajion Jennings improved to 21-3 on the season with a 20-4 technical fall victory. Tomaskovic closed out the match with a win for the Big Blue at 285 winning by fall at 1:10.
      Williams was named to the Whitehill Duals All-Tournament Team at 133 pounds and Jennings was named at 184 pounds.
         Millikin will travel to Cornell College for a dual match on January 20.
