Four Millikin Women's Soccer Players named CCIW All-Conference

The Big Blue women's soccer team capped off their 2023 campaign with a 2-2-4 record and a slot in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Tournament for the first time since 2010. On Friday, October 27, the CCIW released the names of the 2023 women's soccer all-conference recipients with four Millikin players making the list.

Bailee Blecker was named to the first team. The senior from Loves Park, Ill. scored two goals and assisted one in the CCIW season, connecting on two thirds of her shots on goal. Blecker was the leading goal scorer for Millikin this season, and started seven games for MU during conference play. Freshman Mia Brown was named to the second team. The midfielder from O'Fallon, Mo. played 422 minutes and scored one goal in CCIW play. Elly Hermanson was a repeat selection, tallying 537 minutes during the conference season for Millikin. The sophomore from New Lenox, Ill. was named to the second team last season.

Millikin goalkeeper Sophie Dorgan was the third player named to the second team. Dorgan started all of the conference matches for the Big Blue, recording 30 saves in goal and tallying 720 minutes of play.

Melis Barutcu was named the Big Blue's RESPECT Award winner for the 2023 season. The CCIW RESPECT award is presented at the conclusion of every sports season with each varsity program recognizing one student-athlete. RESPECT Award recipients have distinguished themselves as an integral member of the team, their institution and community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration and Trust. The RESPECT Award recognizes the intangible traits a student-athlete possesses that exemplify great character and encourages inclusiveness and a positive culture.
