Millikin’s Blasioli Headed to NCAA Championship

Millikin junior wrestler Zac Blasioli earned his way to the NCAA Division III Championships with a second place finish at the NCAA Division III Lower Midwest Regional hosted by Millikin and Visit Springfield at the BOS Center on Springfield, Illinois on February 24-25.

Blasioli, who entered the regional ranked second in the country according to the NWCA Rankings, finished in second place earning his spot in the NCAA Division III National Tournament in Virginia on March 10-11. After winning both his matches on Friday by technical fall, Blasioli won his semifinal match 7-4 over Cade Hornback of Coe. Blasioli lost in the Championship Match 5-2 to Christian Guzman of North Central. Blasioli is now 23-3 on the season.

Freshman Nathan Callaway started the day ranked eighth in the country at 157 pounds. He posted two wins on Friday to advance to the semifinals. Callaway lost in the semifinal match to Zeke Smith of Loras 1-0. He then stayed alive with a 14-2 major decision win over Jaylen York of the University of the Ozarks. Callaway lost in the third place match 6-0 to Alex Villar of North Central 6-0 to finish in fourth place. Callaway is now 23-5 on the year.
