Hensley and Shumaker Earn Track All-American Honors

DECATUR, Illinois—Following their performance at the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships over the weekend in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Millikin University freshman Kyle Hensley (Mt. Zion, H.S.) and senior Jake Shumaker (Decatur, Mt. Zion H.S.) have receive All-America honors from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA).

Hensley earned All-America First Team honors after winning the Pole Vault in a new school record vault of 5.18 meters or 17.0 feet.

Shumaker received All-America Second Team honors after finishing between ninth and 16 in the 800 Meters. Shumaker had the eighth fastest time in the 800 prelims, but didn't advance to the finals. The eight finalist were the top two from each of three heats and the next two fastest times. Shumaker was third in heat two.

Last week, Hensley, Shumaker and Millikin's 4x400 Relay Team received All-Region honors from USTFCCA. The top-5 individuals in each event from each region on the year-end earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-3 relay teams. Joining Shumaker on the relay team were Dayton Lasack (Deerfield, Wis., H.S.), Caleb Bleich (Melvin, Gibson City Melvin Sibley H.S.) and Colin Griffin (Le Roy, H.S.).

Millikin's Jazzalynne Hicks (Bement, H.S.) earned All-Region honors in the Women's Weight Throw.
