Millikin Baseball Earns First National Ranking in Program History: No.23

The Millikin Big Blue Baseball is putting together a historic start to the season.

Riding a seven-game win streak, the Big Blue sit at 12-3 overall after a 2-0 weekend at home, and have earned the No. 23 national ranking with 146 votes in the ABCA Coaches Poll for the first ranking in program history.

Offensively, Millikin has been consistent throughout the lineup, with five hitters batting .300 or better. Pete Britton leads the team with 19 hits and 9 doubles, Easton Steck has driven in 17 RBIs with a .585 slugging percentage, and Leyton Ivers has crossed the plate 21 times and is 13-for-14 on stolen base attempts .

The pitching staff has been just as strong. Caleb Akins has been dominant with a 1.14 ERA and 29 strikeouts across 31 innings, Gavin Houchins has added 24 strikeouts in 17 innings with a 1.59 ERA, and Nolan Reiman has been lights out in relief with four saves, just two runs allowed, and 11 strikeouts in 14 innings.

The Big Blue will take their momentum on the road this weekend as they open conference play against the Wheaton Thunder.
