Millikin Track Athletes Receive Academic Honors from USTFCCA

DECATUR, Illinois—Millikin University track and field athletes sophomore Dayton Lasack (Deerfield, Wis., H.S.), senior Jake Shumaker (Decatur, Mt. Zion H.S.) and Hailey Newill (Fremont, Neb., H.S.) were named All-Academic Athletes for the 2024 NCAA Division III Men's Track & Field seasons by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on July 15. The Millikin women's track team was named an All-Academic Team by the USTFCCCA as well.
 
NCAA Division III All-Academic Athlete must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 and must have finished the indoor season among the top 50 individuals as listed on the descending order lists on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 50, but who participated at the Indoor or Outdoor National Championships, are eligible.
Lasack is an Engineering Science major. Shumaker graduated in May with a degree in Computer Science. Newill is an Arts Technology major.
 
The trio of athletes was named CSC Academic All-District® Track & Field Team in June. Earlier this month, Shumaker was named to the CCS Academic-America® Third Team.
 
The Big Blue women's track team's 3.35 cumulative grade point averaged earned them All-Academic Team honors. To receive the award a team needs at least a 3.1 grade point average.
